Rappahannock Development Group is a Platinum Sponsor of the award-winning, Langley Aerodrome Experience, a cultural and educational attraction in Stafford County, Virginia. The Experience was created by the Langley Flight Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit, to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM-related fields and to advocate for education pathways in aviation and technology. Inspired by the first successful heavier-than-air aircraft flight in history, the Foundation commissioned an exact reproduction of Samuel Pierpont Langley’s Aerodrome No. 5. The steam-powered aircraft flew for 1 minute and thirty seconds in May 1896, proving the concept of heavier-than-air flight. The Aerodrome is part of an interactive experience open to the public free of charge at the Stafford Regional Airport, in Stafford County, Virginia.
